The author
Cool earned Bachelor and Juris Doctor degreesat the University of San Francisco and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. His previous work has appeared in Wild West magazine, Texas Rangers' Dispatch, theJournal of Big Bend Studies, the WWHA Journal, NOLA Quarterly,and WOLA Journal.He is a member of Western Writers of America, Wild West History Association,ArizonaHistorical Society,San Elizario Genealogical and Historical Society, and19th Bombardment Association.
Hisfather, Colonel Paul E. Cool, piloted heavy bombers without fighter escortinthe7th and 19th Bombardment Groups, earning the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, theDistinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and thePurple Heart. His mother Anne wasanurse's aide in London during the Battle of Britain, and was wounded in theBlitz.
